Meet Our 2023 Board Nominees
James Brackenbury
Is a retired senior executive from a Fortune 200 global tier 1 automotive supplier after nearly 35 years. He worked in numerous leadership capacities over his tenure, a number of which included full financial responsibility, strategic planning and annual planning for multi billion-dollar business units. Also included in his tenure were 10 years of international assignments and several joint venture boards. Mr. Brackenbury earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), both from Michigan State University. Although not a native El Pasoan, he has resided in El Paso since 2005 with his wife and son, who is currently attending the University of Arizona.

EXPERIENCE Assistant General Counsel El Paso Water Utilities July 2015 - Present El Paso, TX -Transactional attorney for purchasing and engineering department. -Conduct miscellaneous legal research and analysis on various matters for the utility.
Senior Project Manager El Paso Electric Company Nov 2014 - Jul 2015 El Paso, TX -Assisted with negotiation for construction and management of solar facilities. -Assisted with financial analysis of solar and other renewable energy projects. -Assisted with the writing of testimony for filings with the Public Utility Commission.
Assistant City Attorney City of El Paso 2012 - 2014 El Paso, TX -Responsible for legal matters involving the City's budget. -Responsible for legal matters for the City's Economic Development Department. -Responsible for legal matters relating to City elections and utilities.
Fatuma A. Ereng
I have worked closely and collaboratively with students, teachers, counselors, central office staff, principals, parents and the community at large to ensure students' success from kindergarten through post secondary careers and higher education.
I have a wide-ranging knowledge as an educator in k-5, middle school, high school; curriculum writer, student activities manager, campus GT committee member, attendance review committee member, assistant cheerleading and dance coach, UIL academic coach and external International Baccalaureate examiner and staff developer. I am also familiar with operations of small private schools, large title 1 public schools, magnet schools and non -title one schools.
